- Recording equipment will be sanitized in accordance with manufacturer guidelines after each use.
General measures to be taken by CeLT
- With IU’s return to campus underway, in-studio (and on-location, elsewhere on campus) recording will now be available as usual.
- Preference will be given to Zoom and/or email for planning of scripts, pre-recording info sessions, etc., in order to limit face-to-face contact
- In case of hesitancy to record in the studio setting due to health or other considerations, remote recording (on one’s personal computer, phone, etc.) or other methods will be supported to meet individual needs
- Advising on recording practices, borrowing of audiovisual recording equipment, and full-service editing are always available from CeLT staff
- Routine cleaning/sanitizing of studio spaces will occur before and after the space is used and regularly throughout the day
- Session times will be staggered to allow for thorough cleaning between uses
- A record of all in-person visits will be maintained in case of need for contact tracing
- A copy of these studio health and safety guidelines will be emailed to each individual 1-3 days prior to a recording session, requiring confirmation of receipt
- Social distancing is expected between individuals whenever possible
- Face coverings will be worn by staff at all times during the recording session
- No unnecessary visitors or observers will be allowed in the studio at this time
Recording-specific measures to be taken by CeLT
- Whenever possible, the recording booth will be scheduled in a manner that allows at least 24 hours between individuals
- Acrylic shields will be utilized within the studio, to minimize contact between studio staff and recording individuals during session set-up
- Disposable microphone covers will be utilized for each session
- Microphones will be sanitized with isopropyl alcohol to manufacturer recommendations at the end of each day (and between recording sessions if multiple individuals record in one day)
- Furniture, cables, and other items potentially exposed to respiratory exhalations will be sanitized with IU-sanctioned cleaning supplies at the end of each day (and between recording sessions if multiple sessions occur in one day)
Guidelines for studio visitors
- Hand sanitizer will be provided and must be used by all individuals upon entering the studio
- Face coverings must be worn at all times unless actively recording
- Coverings must remain on until the door to the recording booth is shut
- No unnecessary visitors or observers will be allowed in the studio at this time
- With respect to the brief close proximity required during equipment setup, participants will be instructed to refrain from speaking during this time
- CeLT staff will limit speaking during this time as much as possible
- Recording participants are asked not to touch or reposition the microphone or any other equipment
- Personal water bottles will be allowed in the recording booth, but please limit consumption to only necessary times when the booth door is closed
- No food will be allowed in any part of the studio
Equipment cleaning
- 70% isopropyl alcohol on windscreen and mic body, as per manufacturer
- Due to the deterioration of cables caused by alcohol, current manufacturer recommendations are to clean cabling with soap and water on a cloth
- Wear gloves during cleaning if possible
- Use diluted bleach on doorknobs, tables, etc.
