English as a Second Language
For international students, Indiana University's Department of Second Language Studies offers two options for supporting English learning:
- Intensive English Program (IEP)
- The IEP serves learners of English by offering courses designed to support the development of English language skills for academic studies in North American universities. The curriculum is designed for students at all levels of English language proficiency, with an emphasis on developing the necessary oral and written skills for academic studies and business or professional communication.
- English Language Improvement Program (ELIP).
- The ELIP provides courses for admitted IU students to further improve their academic English language skills. Topics include academic listening, academic writing for research, academic speaking, legal writing and reading analysis, and more.
The Department of Second Language Studies also offers certificates and graduate degrees in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL).
