Language Information
Malay is spoken across Maritime Southeast Asia in Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, Singapore, as well as parts of Thailand and East Timor. Malaysian (Standard) Malay and Indonesian are the predominant forms of Malay. Just under 350 million people speak Malay, with more than half of those speaking Indonesian.
Standard Malay is not currently taught on the IU campus, but Indonesian is available.
