Ukrainian is an East Slavic language and the official language of Ukraine, where the majority of that language's 50 million speakers reside. Notable Ukrainian-speaking communities outside of Ukraine can be found in It is also spoken in Canada, Kazakhstan, Russia, the U.S., and other countries. Ukrainian is written using a unique alphabet derived from the Cyrillic script.
