Language Information
Quechua is a family of indigenous language from South America, originating in Peru and spreading throughout much of the Inca Empire. Multiple dialects make up the Quechua language group, with approximately 10 million total speakers.
At Indiana University, the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies offers a four-semester sequence in Quechua. These courses are currently taught at the University of Michigan and are open to Indiana University students through synchronous distance learning via the BTAA CourseShare program.
