Language Information
Ostyak, now known as Khanty (Hanti), is the language of the Khant peoples who reside in two autonomous regions within Russia: Khanty-Mansi and Yamalo-Nenets. There are numerous dialects and currently the number of Khanty speakers is estimated to be around 13,000.
Khanty is not currently taught at Indiana University. CeLT does have one listening exercise from Dr. Alo Raun in our archive, but it is not currently available online. If you are interested in this material, please contact us.
