Language Information
Ijo, also called Ijaw, is a collection of languages spoken by the indigenous Ijo people of the Niger Delta region of southern Nigeria. The Ijo have a rich history of trade and fishing, and their population of over 10 million can be found extending from the Niger Delta along the coastline to the east and west. Izon, one of the primary Ijo languages, is spoken by approximately 9 million.
