Language Information
Danish, also called Dansk, is part of the North Germanic language family. Danish is the official language of Denmark and the majority of the approximately 6 million native speakers are found in the Scandinavian region. Significant populations of Danish speakers are also found in the Faroe Islands, part of northern Germany, Greenland, and elsewhere. Danish evolved from Old Norse, and shares many characteristics with other languages in the region: Norwegian and Swedish.
